Scripture Nugget 1.16.2016

“When Israel set out on his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, ‘Jacob, Jacob.’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’ Then he said, ‘I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there. I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again; and Joseph’s own hand shall close your eyes.’” Genesis 46:1-4

Do you think Jacob (Israel) remembered this? – “He had another

dream, and told it to his brothers, saying, ‘Look, I have had another dream; the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.’ But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him, and said to him, ‘What kind of dream is this that you have had? Shall we indeed come, I and your mother and your brothers, and bow to the ground before you? So his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.” Genesis 37:9-11

“Joseph settled his father and his brothers, and granted them

a holding in the land of Egypt, in the best part of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had instructed. And Joseph provided his farther, his brothers, and all his father’s household with food, according to the number of their dependents. Genesis 47:11-12

These events took many years to come to fruition. Am I willing to proceed, minute by minute, day by day, year by year on the journey God call’s me to? With faith, do I listen to God, do I hear when God speaks through others? O God that I be faithful for the long haul!
