Scripture Nugget 7.16.2016

“Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem. It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities. Psalm 130: 1-8

Do you ever wrestle with memories of iniquities long since confessed, long since forgiven? O how satan and our fallen selves attempt to pile on the guilt. In these times who do I/you look to, listen for, cry out to? Where do I/you turn? The Word is a wonderful place to find the one we seek! The Word is a wonderful place to wait and to rest in, to eat and to drink, while we watch for the coming of the Lord. Re-read this Psalm, by editing verses 7 and 8, this way:

O (your name), hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love (mercy), and with him is great power to redeem. It is he who redeems me/you from all iniquities.

O (your church), hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love (mercy), and with him is great power to redeem. It is he who redeems us from all iniquities.

O (your country), hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love (mercy), and with him is great power to redeem. It is he who redeems us from all iniquities.

Find peace in God’s redeeming grace! God’s Over-the-Horizon Promise is real! Live out God’s promise by practicing Over-the-Horizon Faith. Forgiveness, Restoration, Redemption are not just possibilities but are real! God is merciful, God is forgiving. Life with God is about choices, Life without God is the consequence for choices made which separate me/you from Him.

O (your name), hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love (mercy), and with him is great power to redeem. It is he who redeems me/you from all iniquities.
