Scripture Read Galatians 4-6

Nugget Galatians 5:22-26

“By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another.”

Devotional Thought: How am I (are you) living? How am I (are you) seen by others? This is a much different question than how do I (you) feel? Living by the Spirit may not always “feel” good. Helping repair a neighbor’s roof in the middle of summer is a loving, generous, and kind act; but when one is hot, thirsty and dehydrated from the work, it might not feel good. The fruit that we show, that other’s see is often a product of self-sacrifice, it may in fact be a burden. Christ’s love for us didn’t “feel good” as He hung on the cross. The quality and depth of our relationships isn’t measured by how I (you) feel but by what others see me (you) demonstrate.
