Scripture Read Job 31-32

Nugget Job 31:1-2
“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I look upon a virgin? What would be my portion from God above, and my heritage from the Almighty on high?”

Devotional Thought: Job, “That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil” (vs 1:1b) continues to declare his innocence. Essentially, he asks, if I sin what then would I receive from God, what then would be my heritage from God? Job is declaring his choice for the heritage God desires for us, while continuing to wrestle with why he finds himself in the condition he is in. The example of Job’s life reminds us that during our human lifetime we may be called to suffer through hard times, endure circumstances that seem like punishment. God was confident in Job’s response as God was confident in Jesus future response, to live a sin free life though tempted. Job was human, Job was born a sinner yet God consider him blameless and upright. Job chose to live his life respecting God, being obedient to God and rejecting evil. O that I/you/we do the same, even during times of trial.
