Scripture Read Psalms 21-23

Nugget Psalm 22:19-24

“But you, O LORD, do not be far away! O my help, come quickly to my aid! Deliver my soul from the sword, my life from the power of the dog! Save me from the mouth of the lion! From the horns of the wild oxen you have rescued me. I will tell of your name to my brothers and sisters, in the midst of the congregation I will praise you; You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him; stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel! For he did not despise or abhor the affliction of the afflicted; he did not hide his face from me, but heard when I cried to him.”

Devotional thought: Praise God for all God does; the promises God keeps! God hears our cry, then comes and helps, delivers, saves, and rescues. Be the like the psalmist who cries out to God in time of need and be like the psalmist who worships God with praise and thanksgiving when cries (prayers) are answered. Ash Wednesday is a week away; the beginning of Lent. From what circumstance do I/you need help to overcome? Not that we need to wait a week to cry out, but what is it, who is it, that come Sunday morning you want to be completely free from, rescued, saved and delivered? Cry out to God, God is listening, will hear and respond! Praise be to God!
