Scripture Nugget 12.6.2016

“For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as your bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:9-14

More evidence the practice of Christianity is a team sport! I am thankful for those who pray for others without ceasing; that we all may grow in knowledge, obedience and spiritual power. That we would all know God not just about God. But I must admit, if I am being truthful with you and with God, that I’m deficient in my prayers for others. I wonder, is that true with you? Maybe we just stumbled upon a major reason our lives are such a struggle. God has, is and will continue to rescue, restore and redeem – let us pray each other into His gloriousness! Lord forgive me for my deficiencies, please forgive me for creating a chink in the spiritual armor of those around me – fill those holes and by your grace catch us up, so that our knowledge of you, and our obedience to you cause us to seek and receive the spiritual power you offer. That we would live in the light of hope in you, that we would receive your peace, be made joyful by you and love as you love. O that all, beginning with me, lead lives pleasing and acceptable to you.
