Scripture Nugget 9.6.2015

“I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, by whose observance everyone shall live. Moreover I gave them my Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I the LORD sanctify them. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not observe my statutes but rejected my ordinances, by whose observance everyone shall live; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned.” Ezekiel 20:11-13a

We are given the freedom to choose; we can say yes, but we can also say no. As a professor of mine often says, “Our yes is meaningless without the freedom to say no”. Saying yes to God is choosing life, life abundant, while saying no is choosing death, which will we choose? Life or death, light or dark? Joshua chose life for himself and his family, “Now if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.
